Hey girls! The Lord recently been convicted of dressing more modestly. Do you guys have any tips or fashion advice for dressing modestly? I'd really love to hear them! :)

Respond to This Prayer Request

Praying for you. I know exactly how you feel. I went through the same thing in college. I basically began not wearing leggings or tight skirts or low cut tops. Modesty is still beautiful! I also learned that it is a heart issue. I had to ask myself each day, why am I desiring to wear really tight clothes? Who's attention am I trying to get? The answers to those questions pointed me to different idols in my life.

Also, look up Kristina J. She has a blog that's all about making things work. She sews a lot, so I'm not sure if you're into that or not, but it's the coolest blog in any case.

Scarves and Cardigans. Hahahha Seriously though-As I'm not sure what your convictions are specifically I'll just throw out what I have. Target always has super cheap long dresses on Clearance. H&M has a lot of long dresses and skirts. Their jeans are also a lot looser on the butt. Goodwill usually has a really nice selection of skirts. I've gotten $100+ skirts from there for $3.99. So...Also, Altar'd State sells lace slips that are made for layering to make dresses longer. They're just like a slip with lace at the bottom. They're fabulous. Also, you can get crocheted lace ribbon from JoAnn's-I've added this to the bottom of skirts and dresses before to make them a couple of inches longer. I've actually liked the skirts better with this added-it adds a nice touch of detail. One of my favorite things to do, though, is to buy cheap (Clearanced or Goodwill) dresses that would normally be really short, but are crushingly adorable, and just cut the top off and make it a skirt. No sewing needed. The trick is getting a dress with an elastic middle so you just have to cut above it. I also have just worn skirts (cream lace is my favorite) under dresses. All of my friends are always shocked when they find out it's not attatched. Plato's closet is a really good place to get skirts and dresses too. In all honesty, though, scarves and cardigans are your best friends.

I have something that might help, check out this website! This is too perfect haha. One of my friends from college put together this blog/website about Jesus and fashion, literally. She loves giving fashion tips to girls/women who want to honor God in their dress but still look fashionable. Here's the link-

    I hope it helps :)

This is awesome! I actually really love modest fashion because it involves more layering so you can mix and match more! Leggings(for skirts/dresses), tank tops(under low-cut tops), and scarves are your friends!
